Eid-El-Fitr: Christians Join Muslim Faithful at Kaduna Eid Praying Ground to Strengthen Peace and Unity

As Muslims around the world celebrate Eid, several Christian clerics have joined tens of thousands of Muslims in Kaduna State, Northwestern Nigeria, at Murtala Mohammed Square praying ground, with the aim of fostering peace, love, unity, and religious tolerance among different faith-based groups in the country.



The General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru, led a delegation of Christians to the praying ground on Wednesday, marking their third time participation in the event.

He emphasized the significance of such gatherings as opportunities for Christians to engage in dialogue and interaction with other faiths, promoting interreligious tolerance, peace, stability, and mutual understanding.

Delivering a lecture on the importance of peace and unity in the country, Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru highlighted the commonality between Muslims and Christians in their worship of the same God, stressing the need for both communities to join hands in fostering peace and religious tolerance.

He noted that during Christmas celebrations, thousands of Muslims from 19 Northern states of Nigeria often join Christians to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, further promoting peace and unity in the state

Speaking after the prayers, Pastor Yohanna Buru reiterated the call for both Muslims and Christians to cultivate a culture of peace and harmony, emphasizing their shared humanity and the commonality of their holy books.

He urged all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, to embrace peace, unity, and love, emphasizing that the nation’s full potential can be realized through collaborative efforts and peacebuilding.

The felicitations extended to Islamic scholars and leaders, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, Sheikh Ibrahim Yakubu El-Zazzaky, Sheikh Ahmed Mahmud Gumi, and Sheick Halliru Maraya, underscored the spirit of solidarity and goodwill during the Eid celebrations.

In response, Sheikh Halliru Marayu, one of the prominent Islamic scholars present, expressed delight at the visit by Christians and emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians.

Similarly, Malam Sunusi Surajo, a committee member of the Eid-El-Kabir ground preparatory organizers, praised Kaduna State’s efforts in promoting peace and religious tolerance, extending prayers for peace and unity across Nigeria.

The presence of notable figure such as former Governor of Kaduna State,
Alhaji Ramadan Yero former governor of kaduna state, top Islamic scholars, and traditional title holders, added to the significance of the occasion.
